Michael Edward Abbott graduated to heaven on February 26, 2022. He was the son of Raymond Abbott and Sadie Mae (Petro) Abbott Hoskins. They have preceded him in death.
Michael was born on July 9, 1954. He was raised in Lafayette, Indiana by his mother and his step-father, Herman J. Hoskins. He had four brothers, Ron Abbott (Cathy); Steven Abbott; Richard Abbott; and Rick Hoskins (Vickie). Ron has also preceded him in death.
Michael graduated from Jefferson High School in 1972. He worked at Swift Chemical in Bartow, Florida. After returning to Indiana, he was hired by Alcoa of Lafayette in 1977. He retired after 30 years in 2007.
Michael was a man of faith who always loved the Lord Jesus Christ. He loved spending time with his family. He enjoyed cooking, driving, antique shops, hunting, and fishing.
He is survived by his loving wife, Gina. Michael and Gina had a phrase of endearment that they spoke to each other, “You are my king. You are my queen. You are my husband. You are my wife. You are my boyfriend. You are my girlfriend. You are my soulmate.”
For 28 years they were all these things and more to each other.
Also surviving are a son, Michael Wilson, and four daughters, Kendra Worley (Ben), Lisa Rice (Weston), Heather Abbott, and Stacie Auckerman (Larry); as well as many grandchildren.
