Iris J. (Robinaugh) Longster, 92, of Lafayette, Indiana, passed away January 10, 2024. She was born on February 21, 1931 in Fort Wayne, Indiana, to the late Paul and Garnet Robinaugh. She was a graduate of Jefferson High School. She then met the love of her life James Ray Longster, Jr. and they were married on February 23, 1952 at St. James Lutheran Church in Lafayette, Indiana. They were together for 63 years. Iris worked at Purdue University in their printing services department until her retirement in 1992.

Iris had a fabulous sense of humor. She was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, loved a good book, a lover of all animals (especially cats), enjoyed sitting on the deck of her house in Monon, Indiana, with family and friends and enjoyed researching her family’s genealogy. She will be missed as a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and dear friend.

Iris is survived by her three children: Son, James Ray Longster, III (Rebecca) of Lafayette, Indiana, Daughter, Paula K. Longster (Ken Schultz) of West Lafayette, Indiana, and Daughter Cindy White (Ken) of New Richmond, Indiana. Five Grandchildren: James Longster of West Lafayette, Indiana, Erick Schultz of West Lafayette, Indiana, Alex Schultz (Dani) of Lafayette, Indiana, Tiffany McGill (Rod) of Linden, Indiana, Kenny White (Jenna) of Morristown, Indiana and numerous great grandchildren. Sister Karen Garrett of South Carolina, Niece Tracy Garrett of South Carolina and Nephew Todd Garrett, Wisconsin. In addition to her parents, Iris was preceded in death by her husband James Ray Longster, Jr., and brother-in-law Leonard Garrett.

Iris and James will be both be laid to rest together at a later date at Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery, Lafayette, Indiana. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made the KLD Alzheimer’s Foundation, 401 Main Street, Lafayette, Indiana 47901, phone765-532-3623.
