Xiucha Chen, aged 77, of West Lafayette, IN, passed away peacefully on April 19, 2022. She was born in Shangluo City, Shaanxi, China on February 9, 1945. As the eldest child, she was always a role model to her four younger siblings. In 1965, she was admitted into Northwestern University (Xi’an, China), majoring in mathematics. She married Xinshan Liu on July 10, 1970. She worked as a member of the technical team in Sichuan Chemical Plant (Chengdu, China) from 1970 to 1973. From 1973 to 2002, she taught mathematics at Shangluo Junior-Senior High School (Shangluo, China). She held the title of Senior Teacher bestowed by the Education Commission of the Chinese government. She cared for her students as if they were her children, especially those from poor families. From 2007 to 2016, she and her husband relocated to Xi ‘an after retiring from her high school job. Since 2016, she and her husband have been living in the United States.

In 2002, during her first visit to the United States, Xiucha converted to a Christian and was baptized at Huntington Chinese Baptist Church in Baltimore, Maryland on October 19, 2003. She has been eager to share Gospel with others. Even when she was hospitalized, she seized every opportunity to preach the Gospel to her fellow patients.
Xiucha was diagnosed with lung cancer in 2011. During the entire treatment process, she was determined and optimistic. She brought great encouragement and comfort to her fellow cancer patients who were in similar suffering. In 2016, she was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease. The development of the disease brought great pain to her both physically and mentally, but she never complained. Instead, she praised God with a grateful heart and demonstrated a gentle and joyful attitude.
Xiucha is survived by her husband Xinshan Liu; two daughters: Xiaojin Liu (husband Jun Chen) and Yasha Liu (husband Huang Huang); and three grandchildren: Ruohan Huang, Michael Chen, and Hannah Chen.

陈秀茶姊妹于1945年2月9日出生于陕西省商洛市,为五姐弟中最年长,是父母的掌上明珠,也是众弟妹美好的榜样。她自幼乐观坚强、善良热情、为人谦和、责任心强。1965年以优异的成绩考入西北大学数学系。大学毕业后1970年7月10日与刘新善弟兄结为伉俪。她1970年至1973年在四川省化工厂担任技术工作;1973年至2002年在陕西省商洛中学任教;又于2007年至2016年定居于陕西省西安市,2016年随夫移居美国与女儿们团聚。

在工作中,陈秀茶姊妹认真严谨、追求上进,获得了教委颁发的高级教师职称。她对待学生如同对待自己的孩子,特别是那些家境比较困难的学生,她更是关心备至;她三十载勤耕于三尺讲台,结出桃李香满园;无论在学生中,还是在同事中,她都有着良好的口碑。在生活中,她勤俭持家,相夫教子,富有牺牲精神。她支持丈夫的事业,给两个女儿提供了良好的教育机会,身体力行地培养女儿和外孙们的良好品格;只要是家里有需要的地方,她都心甘情愿地摆上自己去全力支持。

陈秀茶姊妹在2002年赴美探望大女儿期间皈信基督,并于2003年10月19日在美国马里兰州巴尔的摩市亨通基督教会受洗归主。她有一颗单纯敬畏神的心,无论在美国还是中国,她都积极参与教会聚会,热心传福音,即便是因病入院期间她也是抓住一切机会在病友中传讲福音。她最大的愿望就是所有的家人及子孙后代都能相信耶稣,敬虔爱主。

2011年初她被查出患有肺癌,面对恶疾,她坚毅乐观,不仅没有被疾病打倒,反而靠着神战胜了疾病,且给她周围那些在同样难处中的人带来很大的鼓励和安慰。2016年她又确诊阿兹海默症,病情的发展给她的身体和精神都带来了极大的痛苦,但她从来没有抱怨过,反而常常用一颗感恩的心赞美神,也常常用温柔喜乐的态度回报周围的人。

陈秀茶姊妹的一生是美好、圆满、且无亏的一生!对于神给她的托付,无论是家人、同事、学生、朋友、还是弟兄姐妹,她都尽心尽力献上自己最好的来服事他们。她是神忠心良善的好仆人!如今她已安息主怀,去了她最爱的神那里,但是她会一直活在我们的缅怀、尊敬、和爱戴之中!
