Ronald Patrick Smith, 73, of Lafayette, IN, passed away on July 14, 2023, surrounded by his loving
family at IU Arnett Hospital, in Lafayette, Indiana. He was born on December 1 st , 1949, to the late Jack
and Bernadine Adwell of Otterbein, IN. He was a graduate of Benton Central High School and served
his Country in the United States Army. He met the love of his life, Patricia Jo (Leslie). They shared 51
years together. Ron worked as a diesel mechanic in Frankfort, IN for 25 years and then moved to
Tennessee where he worked for Frito-Lay for 15 years and then retired in 2012. He will be greatly
missed as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and dear friend. Ron is survived by his wife
Pat of Lafayette, IN, daughter Traci (Ryan) Davis of Tracy, CA, daughter Wendi Smith (Brandon
Pennington) of Brownsburg, IN, 3 grandchildren; Wyatt and Kimber Davis and Gordi Abraham, two half-
brothers; Brett (Pam) Adwell and Brian (Carla) Adwell and sister Cathy (Dave) Jenkins. His services will
be held in private and at a later date.
