Joyce Schutz,87, of Lafayette IN, passed away April 12, 2024, in her home. She was
born November 22, 1936 in Fickle, IN to the late Emerson and Flossie Shirar.
Joyce married Ronald Kenneth on March 22, 1959; they have been married for 65
years. He survives. Joyce grew up in a family of thirteen children. She cared for
children and had daycare in her home for over twenty years. Joyce enjoyed any kind of
flowers, cooking and baking. Her specialty is her Lemon dessert. Her and her husband
Ronald were members of Christ United Methodist Church in Lafayette. Joyce was the
biggest fan of Purdue Men’s basketball.
Joyce is survived by her Husband Ronald Kenneth Schutz daughters, Lisa (Ron)
LaFon, Linda (Dennis) Hamilton, five grandchildren, Kellie, Jamie, Monica, Luke, Jared,
and nine great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her eight brothers, Gerald, Charles, Edger, Dale, Pete,
Robert, twins, Ted and Fred, Shirar, four sisters, Jane Vantyle-Robinson, Josephine
McCoy, Mary Ruth Hord, Kate Achor.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday, April 23, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. with visitation
from 11:00 a.m.- 1:00 p.m. prior to service at Tippecanoe funeral Chapel 3631
Morehouse Rd, West Lafayette, IN 47906. Reverand Kurt Freeman officiating. There will
be a graveside service at a later date.
