John Kenneth “Ken” Bowers, 74 of Lafayette passed away unexpectedly at his residence on Thursday September 7,2023. He was born in Columbus, OH on March 21,1949 to the late John & Olga Barcus Bowers. He was a graduate of Columbia Military Academy in Columbia, TN and attended Purdue University in Lafayette. John worked as a laboratory technician at Eli Lilly for 30 years. His marriage was May 5,1979 in Lafayette to Kathie Buck McMillin and she survives. John enjoyed photography and collecting stamps. He was a guitar player, who loved music and was active in the church choir at River City Church in Lafayette. He was an member of River City Church and also on the worship team.
Surviving with his wife Kathie are a son Scott (Lindy) McMillin of Lafayette, daughters Nicole (Jim) Willoughby of Lafayette and Sheila (Jason) Fisher of Northwich, England. Grandchildren Allison Jessee, Kaitlyn Phillippo, Carson Phillppo, Jake (Abby) McMillin, Charli McMillin, Ripley McMillin and Grace Fisher and one great-grandchild Aiden Fisher. He is also survived by his sister Nancy Buel of Columbus, OH and a brother Ric Bowers of St. Petersburg, FL.
Memorial services will be held at 4pm on Sunday September 17,2023 in River City Church 108 Beck Lane Lafayette, IN. Friends may call from 3pm until the time of services.
