James Gordon Klingman, 90 of Lafayette, passed away at 11:15 pm on Saturday June 24,2023. He was born in Mulberry, IN on April 2,1933 to the late Gordon and Dorothy Doyle Klingman. He was a 1951 graduate of Mulberry High School. He served as a Sergeant with the US Air Force from August 15,1951 until October 31,1956. He married the love of his life, Therese Thaler on August 29, 1953, in Haag,
Germany. She preceded him in death on November 15, 2014. James served with the US Postal Service working up from clerk in 1957 until his retirement in 1988 as Postmaster at Wolcott Post Office. James was a member of the Cathedral of Saint Mary of the Immaculate Conception in Lafayette and American Legion Post 11 in Lafayette.
Surviving are his daughter Dorothy A Clary of Bloomfield, IN, granddaughter Allison Clary of Bloomfield great-grandchild Kamari Clary and grandson Alex (Stephanie) Clary of Bloomfield. Also surviving is his brother Terry (Leslie) Klingman of Sunman,IN.
The family will receive friends at the Cathedral of Saint Mary of the Immaculate Conception at 10am on Friday July 7,2023 with funeral mass at 11am. Burial with military rites by American Legion Post 11 and representatives of the US Air Force will follow at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, envelopes will be available on the day of services at the church.
