Homer R. Melton, 85 of Lafayette, passed away at 11:50 pm Thursday June 8,2023 at Mulberry Health
and Rehabilitation Center in Mulberry. He was born November 24,1937 at Lafayette to the late Alva and
Edna May Lovell Melton. He served with the US Air Force from 1955 to 1959. On November 9,1962 in
Newberry, MI he married Dorie Clark and she survives. Homer was a bus driver for Greater Lafayette
Transportation Systems for over 20 years. Homer enjoyed woodworking, fishing, reading western
novels, as well as being an avid sports fan and a fan of Purdue sports. Homer was able to attend the
Honor Flight to Washington DC.
Surviving with his beloved wife of over 60 years are daughters Terry (Bryan) Myers of Lafayette, Renee
(Kevin) Dexter of Lafayette, Dondi (William-Bud) Walker of Lafayette, and son Rusty (Bonnie) Melton of
Lafayette, grandchildren Stacey (Ryan) McCracken of Lafayette, Derek Dexter and Mandy Dexter of
Lafayette, Randall Johnson (Patricia Dunn) of Silverdale, WA, Sarah (Nick) Kincaid of Portage,IN, Liam
(Jessica) Melton of Muncie, IN, great-grandchildren Kenzi Jo, Lydia, Remi, Sienna, Harley and Clara. Also
surviving is a brother Paul Melton of Mulberry. He was preceded in death by a son Steven E. Graham
and a brother Ralph Melton.
Burial with military rites by the US Air Force and American Legion were held at Tippecanoe Memory
Gardens. Tippecanoe Funeral and Cremation Services were honored to assist the family with
arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to Honor Flight of Greater Lafayette P.O. Box 4782
