Frederick (Fred) Hanson, 78, passed away at St. Anthony’s Healthcare on August 21,2023, where he had
been a patient for 9 months after suffering a stroke. He was born December 19,1944 to Clarence and
Josephine (Bossung) Hanson. He was a 1962 Graduate of Central Catholic High School.
He was diagnosed with a rare type of leukemia in 2013 and underwent a successful stem cell transplant
in 2015 at MD Anderson+ in Houston, TX. His donor was a college student whose fraternity signed up to
be donors, not realizing the impact they would have on people’s lives. We will be forever grateful for the
8 ½ years he gave our family with Fred.
He was employed by Fairfield Mfg. Co. for 42 ½ years, retiring in 2005. He was a member of St Mary’s
Cathedral. He enjoyed summers on the Tippecanoe River boating, showing his 1985 Olds 442 at car
shows.
He married Luana Farner July 23,1966 and they were married for 57 years.
Surviving with wife Luana, are two children Tomas (Crystal) of Punta Gorda, FL, Tiffany (Nadine) Hanson
of Lafayette, two granddaughters Hope (Austin) Gulley of Raleigh, NC and Kasandra (Dan) Gleason of
Atlanta, GA, two great-granddaughters Ella Wray and Nellie Gulley.
A special thanks to staff at St. Anthony’s and hospice, his donor Kyler Berg and his doctors and many
friends who visited him regularly.
Per his wishes there will be no services. Fred always said “I never heard anyone say that they enjoyed
going to a funeral home.” Those who wish may contribute to our local hospice or MD Anderson
Hospital, Houston, TX in memory of Fred.

Tippecanoe Funeral and Cremation Service is honored to assist the family with arrangements.
