Esther (Joan) Robbins Darling 86 of Bradenton, Florida passed into her heavenly home Saturday June 29, 2019 with her youngest daughter Darlene at her side as she took her last earthly breath.
She was born April 7, 1933 in Oxford, Indiana to the late Roscoe and Dortha (Fife) Robbins. She had one sister and three brothers. Alma Henson, the late Charles Robbins, Arnold Robbins, and Glen Robbins.
She married her childhood sweetheart Howard E. Smith (he survives) on March 3, 1950. They had four children from this marriage. Two sons, the late James Smith-Darling and Terry Joe Smith both in heaven and two daughters, Connie J. Cleary of Noblesville, IN., and Brenda S. (Barry) Williams of Crawfordsville, IN.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Ralph L. Darling Sr. They were married on December 23, 1962. Of this union, they had one daughter, Darlene (Rick) Scheel of Sarasota, Florida, and Joan gained two teenagers, Earlena (Jerry) VanPelt of Burlington, WI and the late Larry Darling.
She leaves behind several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren.
Guests will be received at 2:00 p.m. for a Celebration of Life on Friday August 2, 2019, at the Tippecanoe Memory Gardens Chapel of Faith in West Lafayette, IN with services immediately following with Rod Curran officiating at 2:30 p.m.
