    Ricki and family, so sorry to hear of Chet’s passing. Chet and Ricki were wonderful neighbors. We always had fun finding the “stray” golf balls in our woods and yard. Chet will be missed. Sending prayers and hugs to Ricki and the family.

Chester “Chet” Morris Platt died on June 9, 2023, at Beehive Memory Care in Lafayette.

He was born to William and Anna (Beck) Platt on November 7, 1937, at home in Lafayette. Chet graduated in 1956 from Jefferson High School where he was a co-captain of the football team, and a member of the wrestling team. He attended Purdue University, and he worked as a Senior Associate Microbiologist for 33 years at Eli Lily and Company in Lafayette.

He was married July 18, 1959, to Richilda (Ricki) Gillaspy at St Boniface Church. They are the parents of Brian Samuel (Sam) Platt and Elizabeth Lee (Betsy) Gray.

Following retirement, Chet and Ricki loved to travel. They visited each state and many foreign countries. Chet was an avid golfer. He continued to play gold into his 80s. Chet and Ricki enjoyed the 15 winters they spent at their home in Englewood, Florida. Chet attended St. Lawrence Catholic Church with his wife for over 50 years. He loved his family and was extremely proud of each of them.

Chet is survived by his wife, Ricki, two children, Sam (LuAnne) of Kokomo and Betsy, of Nashville. He is also survived by three grandchildren Meredith, Rachel, and Bryson, three great grandchildren Kennedy, Aella, and Ford. In addition, he is survived by two sisters, Martina Utz, and Claudia Steinwald. He was proceeded in death by his parents, two brothers, Virgil Platt and Terrall Platt, and two sisters Margaret Wherle, and Becky Fultz.
