Barbara Lavonne Fields, 77, of Lafayette, passed away on March 14, 2022, at her home. She was born on October 22, 1944, in Washington D.C. to Arline Lavonne Ewers Conrad and James Vernon Conrad. Barbara retired from Alcoa in 2006 where she worked as a machinist for 30 years. She was known for her strength, resilience, and strong will. She enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. You could often find her outside where she enjoyed gardening, caring for her many farm animals, or simply enjoying the sun or storm watching. Barb also had a kind heart, who enjoyed helping to rehabilitate wildlife and donating clothes and toys to the Macy’s Christmas tree each year. She frequently spent time auctioning with her best friend, Carol Stock. Barbara was an incredible woman who was loved by many and will be missed deeply.
Barbara is survived by her sons Dennis Fields and Richard Fields; her grandchildren, Tyessa Yoakum (Kevin Morgan), Tiffany Yoakum (Ian Flores), Kyle (Amanda) Yoakum, Cody Gene Charles, and Danny Fields; great-grandchildren Charles and Delilah Morgan, Elliott and Clark Flores, as well as Skyler, Eva and Heaven Yoakum; and her brother, Joe Conrad. She was preceded in death by her brothers Edward V. Conrad and Thomas Conrad, and sister Sherry Taylor, and nephew and niece Mike and Theresa Taylor..
A small committal ceremony, celebrating Barbara’s life will be held on Saturday, May 7, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. at the Main Chapel mausoleum at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens in West Lafayette, IN.
