William (Bill) D. Sherfick

William (Bill) D. Sherfick of Lafayette, formerly of Fowler, passed away on February 10, 2024 at the Indiana Veterans Home in West Lafayette. He was born in Lafayette, Indiana on August 12, 1947 to Alves and Eula (Clute) Sherfick.
Bill graduated from Fowler High School in 1966. He went on to serve the United States Army in Vietnam from January 1967 to April 13, 1968 when he was wounded in action. Bill was awarded a Purple Heart and honorably discharged from the Army.
He married Marjorie (Downing) Sherfick on November 9, 1996. She preceded him in death on April 9, 2022. Bill was known not to mince words. Underneath a rough exterior was a very big heart for his family. He was a farmer at heart and enjoyed being around agriculture. He was a member of the VFW and Disabled Veterans.
Surviving are his beloved nieces Nancy Cripe and Vicky (Ala) Leuck, nephew Rick Cripe, great nieces and nephews Kristin Patrick, Carly (Taylor) Eastman, Trevor Cripe, Kayla Cripe, Chelsey (Derick) Hamrick, and Cameron Cripe, and great-great nice and nephews Treyson and Chloe Patrick, and Colby Hamrick.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, sister Marilyn J. Cripe, brother-in-law Lloyd Cripe, and nephew Ranald Cripe.
