BERTA is one of my all-time favs. I was a grad student in the Ag Econ Dept and we quickly became friends. So much so that she and AL took me in and gave me a room to rent in their home in Lafayette. My girlfriend (and now wife) Pat also worked in the same Dept at Purdue. Berta, AL, Pat and I were the best of friends and did everything together. Every Friday we would all go over to Riehle’s Bar/Restaurant and drink PBR’s and eat fried SMELT. One of my best memories. She and Al were so good to me. I believe she’s up in heaven now with Al & Keith! Love you BERTA ❤️
