    We remember Peg as an outstanding teacher and a great colleague. Benton Central High School was a better place because of Peg, and the contributions she made to her many students are her legacy. Peggy Lou Mellette, 73, passed away on January 19, 2022 at Westminster Village in West Lafayette, IN. She was born to Morton Thompson Clifton and Helen Bernice (Warne) Clifton on February 3,1948 in Rensselaer, IN.  After completing her high school education, she went on to complete her Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and then Master’s degree in Education at Ball State University.
Peggy worked for much of her life as a business teacher at Benton Central Jr-Sr High School. She married her husband, William Mellette on July 27,1974 and together they spent 47 years, raising their family.
Peggy is survived by her husband, William Mellette; daughter, Jennifer (Kirk) Kaiser; son, John Mellette; and three grandchildren, Andrew, Rylan, and Easton Kaiser; and sister, Helen (Dick) Henderson.
In addition to her parents, Peggy was preceded in death by her brother, Morton Clifton.

Visitation for Peggy will be held Monday, January 31, 2022, from 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens Funeral Chapel, 1718 W. 350 North, West Lafayette, IN, 47906. Funeral services to follow visitation at 4:00 pm at the chapel.

Memorial Donations may be made to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation.
