Nick loved to cook but never clean the messes he was full of laughter loved his sports and was the goofy one always would catch him with a smile on his face. He was like Jays sidekick when you’d see Jay you just knew Nick was usually close by. Nick loved his brother and everyone around him. Nick and his nephew Braden were very close he loved that boy and they looked so much alike. Nick will truly be missed. My heart is heavy and my prayers go out to the family. You will never be forgotten just truly missed by those who knew and loved you. Rest easy my friend and watch over everyone.

Nick was one of my closest friends throughout school. I have so many memories that include him. He was so fun to be around — always cracking a joke and being a goofball. Adulthood separates classmates, but in my heart, we are still 17 and laughing at something silly or aggravating each other. My heart hurts to imagine a world without him here. He was truly a wonderful person, and I’m so honored to have known him and called him a friend.

Nicholas C. Mason

Nick was born in Lafayette, IN at Home Hospital, going home to Otterbein, IN. He later moved to Red Boiling Springs, TN where he graduated from Red Boiling Springs High School. In recent years, he lived and worked in Bowling Green, KY.

Baptized Catholic, he knew the love of Jesus and strived to grow closer to him, especially recently. He possessed the ability to share in praise and give glory to God for his gifts and with his family. While in TN he attended the Church of Christ.

He loved to laugh and more, to make others laugh. He was never far from the ball diamond at his big brother’s games. Nick excelled at baseball which he played from the age of 4 through high school. He also enjoyed the outdoors and found many spots to sit and enjoy the water and the beauty of nature. Favorite teams to cheer on were the St. Louis Cardinals and Green Bay Packers. He could be quite passionate.

Nick took great pride in his work with J. Johnson Fiber Solutions as an A-Lineman and his passion showed in running fiber. He could tell great details about the work he did and it was always animated and fun to hear. His coworkers were a second family to him. He proudly wore his hat for 2023 Windstorm Restoration for work done in KY after devastating storms. He was on lineman crews to help in multiple storm cleanups.

Nick had a special bond with his brother Jay and nephew Braden. It is too special to put into words. All who knew them know. His parents, family and friends are heartbroken. Loving him more than words can express.

He is preceded in death by his paternal grandmother Suzie Etheridge, great grandparents Ora and Ruth Doyle and maternal grandparents, Br. Anthony and Margaret Shaughnessy, stepfather Kyle Cavanaugh.

Surviving are his dad Jerry Mason – his best friend, mom Marie Harrington, stepdad Todd, brother Jay, nephew Braden, stepbrother Ryan, stepsisters Shannon, Cassie, Lisa, aunts Tammy and Michelle, Jennifer, Jan, Mo, Sandy, Kathy, Karen, Amy, uncles Kevin, Paul, Dan and more than 40 cousins.
