Michael VanOuse, 60, of Lafayette, Indiana, passed away on Monday, October 2, 2023 at Ascension St. Vincent’s Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana. Michael was born in Lafayette, Indiana on June 26, 1963, to the late John and Marge (Kelner) VanOuse.

Michael graduated from Lafayette Jefferson High School. He served his Country proudly in the United States Army and later the Army Reserves. He served in the 82nd Airborne Wolfhounds, ending his military career as a respected Drill Sergeant. A man of all skills, Michael could build anything, if he could think it, he could make it. From being a proficient metal worker, making a bridge out of concrete at his property, to being an amazing artist and cartoonist. An avid writer, he was a columnist for the Journal and Courier, who self published books and a newsletter. Michael was a selfless giving man, who gave to those in need. He would teach a Bible study group at the County jail as well as organizing a Christian study group in Lafayette, IN, where he worked and retired as a master machinist for over 25 years. He will be greatly missed as a loving father, grandfather, brother and dear friend.

Michael is survived by his three sons; Brian (Wife-Tamara) Conrad of Lafayette, IN, Scott (Wife-Nicole) Summers of Albuquerque, NM and Samuel VanOuse of Lafayette, IN, brothers; Jim VanOuse of Kokomo, IN and Justin (Wife-Margaret) VanOuse of Valparaiso, IN. Also surviving several nieces and grandchildren.

A gathering of family and friends is scheduled for Saturday, October 14, 2023 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Tippecanoe Funeral & Cremation Services, 3631 Morehouse, West Lafayette, IN, 47906. A celebration of life will begin at 1:00 PM immediately following his gathering.
