Lawrence (Larry) Gene Rudder, 98 of Lafayette, Indiana peacefully joined his Heavenly Father at 9:00 am Sunday, December 31, 2023. Larry was born in Salem, Indiana on February 9, 1925, to the late Roger and Lillian (Short) Rudder. On April 30, 1948, he married Barbara Leill also deceased. Lawrence was a proud patriot, much beloved father and grandfather, great-grandfather, and husband to Barbara. In World War II Larry served in the US Navy aboard the USS Houston and USS Providence. Following his Honorable Discharge, Larry attended Purdue University. He was a member of VFW Post 1154 and served faithfully as Post Commander. He also served on the Board of Directors of the Industrial Federal Credit Union in Lafayette. Larry loved to fish and camp with his family and spent much time creating gifts for many in his workshop.
Surviving are four children Larry (Margaret) Rudder of Lafayette, Dee Dee (Dick) Wolf of Celina, TX, Hilda (Judy Wilson) Rudder of Columbia, TN, and Michael (Kimmy) Rudder of Upperco, MD, grandchildren Amy (Andy) Haag of Frisco, TX, Adam (Angela) Wolf of Prosper, TX, Nicholas Rudder of Indianapolis and Karly (Jason) Richards of MD, great grandchildren Olivia, Emma Kate, Ethan, Ian, and Addison, also surviving are sisters-in-law Judy Leill, Martha Leill, and Marcia Raisor and brother-in-law Ed Nuckols plus numerous nieces and nephews. Proceeding Lawrence in death were brothers, Roger, James, and Ralph and sister, Ramona.
Friends may call for visitation from 10am to 11am on Saturday, January 13th with funeral services immediately following at The Branch Wesleyan Church 2040 Schuyler Ave. Lafayette, IN 47904. Burial services with military honors will be held at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens, West Lafayette, Indiana immediately following.
