Jacque Isbell, 85, passed away on Saturday, April 6, 2024 at Franciscan Health Lafayette East.

Jacque was born in Indianapolis, IN on April 18, 1938, the daughter of Wilbur Heidenreich and Alberta Dean Heidenreich. Her early years were spent in Indianapolis, and she graduated from Jefferson High School in Lafayette, IN, Class of 1956. As a young military wife, she crisscrossed the country with her young and growing family, living in California, Virginia, Pennsylvania, Kansas, Florida, Tennessee, Texas, Washington and finally settling back in Lafayette in 1973.

After a long career at Eli Lilly, she retired in 1998. During retirement, she fostered her interest in family history and genealogy and spent much of her time volunteering at the Tippecanoe County Historical Association, compiling several booklets on Lafayette history. In addition, she helped catalog several cemeteries in the area, often taking her grandchildren along on the Saturday afternoon drives.

Jacque received the Volunteer of the Year award from TCHA and was a proud member (Treasurer) of the Lafayette chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. In her later years, she created family ancestry books for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed playing games, especially mahjong and euchre and solving cryptograms. She had a sweet spot for a good peach pie and movies with happy endings.

Jacque is survived by her children, Vic (wife Rhonda) of Westfield, IN; Mike (wife Dawn) of West Lafayette, IN and Dan (wife Christine) of Lafayette, IN. Also surviving are nine grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Jacque was preceded in death by her parents, sister Bonnie Chapman, son, J. Douglas Isbell; and granddaughter, Kaitlyn Isbell.
