Virginia Elva (Peters) Tharp, 92, passed away on March 13, 2022, at her home in Otterbein, IN. Virginia was born on July 14, 1929, in Cutler, IN, to Charles Alva Peters and Mary Etta Marie (Parson Penn) Peters. After completing her education, she married Robert Mearl Tharp, who precedes her in death. Virginia worked for much of her life as a switchboard operator for Purdue University, where she retired. Virginia had many joys in life, she loved knitting and crocheting, ballroom dancing, playing piano for her church and also giving music lessons, she loved to travel whenever she could, and was a proud member of the Sebring Elks Lodge. Virginia is survived by her son, Tim Robert (Jetta) Tharp; grandson, Phillip Deck, Jr; granddaughter, Cinamin (Micah) Venezia; granddaughter, Emalee (Melissa) Tharp; granddaughter, Heather (James) Holladay; and grandson, Tim Robert Tharp II; and many great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, as well as her daughter, Helen; sister, Wilna McMillan; sister, Jean Peters Smith. Graveside services to lay Virginia to rest will be held on Saturday, April 16, 2022 at 11:30 a.m. at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens, 1718 W. 350 N., West Lafayette, IN 47906.
