I so wish that I could be with you for the celebration of Tom’s life. Since I cannot attend I am sending my heartfelt condolences to Bev, Janet, Marilyn and the family. He was one of my favorite cousins and will be forever missed by all of us who loved him. I am so grateful for all the sweet memories that I have of times spent with him. Thomas Lee Snyder, 90, passed away on July 13, 2021, with loved ones by his side. Tom was born, March 6, 1931, in Lafayette to the late, Esther L. (Yuill) Snyder and Leslie (Bud) M. Snyder. Tom graduated from Monitor High School in 1949; after graduation, he joined the Navy where he served as a Catapult Operator on the U.S.S. Coral Sea CVA 43, he completed his military service in 1953. His marriage to the love of his life Beverly Fultz was on July 24, 1955. Tom worked as a printer for 40 years at the Lafayette Typesetting Company and then the Lafayette Journal and Courier where he completed his career and retired.
Tom was a member of Bethany Presbyterian Church, member of the American Legion Post 11, the Fraternal Order of Eagles 347, and the U.S.S. Coral Sea CVA-43 Association. He enjoyed fishing, bowling, and telling Naval stories but found the greatest joy in life was the time he spent with his wife, family, and close friends.
In addition to his wife, Tom is survived by his sisters, Janet L. (Jerry) Arvin of Lafayette and Marilyn B. Jones of North Carolina; as well as many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews whom he loved very much.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, John R. Snyder, and Charles L. Snyder.
Visitation for Tom will be held on Friday, July 16, 2021, from 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens Funeral Chapel with funeral services to follow immediately at 2:00 PM at the chapel with Pastor Rick Ryan presiding over the services. Burial will take place in Tippecanoe Memory Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Tom’s memory to the American Legion Post 11 or to the Bethany Presbyterian Church, 3305 Longlois Dr., Lafayette, IN 47904.
