Robert E. (Bob) Pope, 66 of Lafayette, died from complications of Covid-19 at 4:37pm
Tuesday December 15, 2020 at IU Arnett Hospital in Lafayette. He was born on March
23,1954 in Lafayette to the late Weller E. and Dorothy M. Stovall Pope. He served with
the US Army and spent time in Korea during 1979-1980.
His marriage was May 21,1988 in Lafayette to Rhonda S. Gregory, she survives. Robert
worked at several local apartment complexes doing apartment maintenance, until his
retirement in April 2020.
Surviving with his wife Rhonda, are a daughter Ashley (Roy) Adams of Rossville, a son
Scott Vessels (Kara Farr) of Frankfort, nine grandchildren Montana, Kaylie, Maddie,
Caleb, Destiny, Jayce, Tristan, Colton, Whitley and one great grandchild Teagan. Also
surviving are a brother Richard Pope of Ft. Wayne and a sister Pam Pope of Lafayette
as well as a niece Crystle and a nephew Michael. He was preceded in death by his
parents, a son Robert “Bobby” Pope and a brother Randall “Randy” Pope.
Private family services will be held at noon on Saturday December 19, 2020 with
military rites. Due to Covid restrictions, A Celebration of Life gathering will be held at a
later date. Friends may attend services virtually by going to zoom.us, clicking on the
