Michael Allen Fischer, 72, of Lafayette passed away unexpectedly at his residence on Sunday, February 12, 2023. He was born November 1, 1950 to the late Fred E. Fischer and Mary E. (Sunkes) Fischer. Michael was a 1969 graduate of Lafayette Jefferson High School and received his bachelor degree from Indiana State University. He was a union electrician with I.B.E.W. Local 668 for 42 years. In addition to his role as an electrician, he also served as a teacher to apprentice electricians. Michael was a member of the Sons of the American Legion in Lafayette. His pastimes included fishing, softball, swimming, and water skiing. Michael was an avid reader and especially enjoyed watching the History Channel. He was always willing to help a friend in need.
He is survived by his daughter, Michelle Anne Fischer, of West Lafayette, his sister Connie (Jay) Harper of Lafayette, niece, Hannah Harper of Lafayette, nephew, Heath (Ashley) Harper of Bloomington, Illinois, nephew Caleb Harper, of Attica, and great-niece, Hadlee James Harper of Bloomington, Illinois.
A celebration of Michael’s life will be held on Saturday, April 22nd 1:30p.m.-4:30 p.m. at the local I.B.E.W. 668 in Lafayette. Further information may be found on the I.B.E.W. 668 Facebook page and Tippecanoe Funeral and Cremation Service website. Interment will be at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens.
