Mary Louise Butler, 88, of Lafayette, IN, passed away on November 28, 2021, in West Lafayette, IN. She was born March 10, 1933, in Lafayette, IN to Cary and Amy (Fisher) Shideler. After completing her education, she met and married her husband, Marlon J. Butler, on December 23, 1961. Mary was preceded in death by Marlon on August 27, 2013, after 51 wonderful years of marriage.
Mary was a member of the VFW Post 1154 and enjoyed volunteering at the Indiana Veteran’s Home. She will be remembered for single handedly bringing down the average height of the family along with her sense of humor, colossal personality, and love of family.
Mary is survived by her children; daughters, Sally Harris and Jeanie Hayden; son, Herbert (Lana) Burnell; grandsons, Herbert H. Burnell III, Brian L. Burnell, and Heath James; granddaughters, Deloris Keller, Ronnell Rose, Felicia Howard, and Juanita Hayden; and many great grandchildren.
Visitation for Mary will be held from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm on Thursday, December 2, 2021, at Tippecanoe Memorial Gardens Funeral Chapel, with service to immediately follow at 12:00 pm.
