Marjorie (Margie) Ann Downing Sherfick born December 5, 1952, to Lester and Daisy Downing in Lafayette, IN passed away peacefully in her home on Saturday, April 9, 2022. Margie graduated from Battle Ground HS in 1970. She studied Cosmetology at Lafayette Beauty Academy and graduated in 1971. Margie worked as a hairdresser for many years in Chalmers, Brookston, Crawfordsville and Lafayette. Previous employment included Bob Byrd Insurance, PEFCU, and Pearson’s Hallmark. She was a devoted wife, mom, nana, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. Margie was an avid Blue Willow collector and enjoyed making creative wreaths and decorating her home for each season. On November 9, 1996, Margie married William D. Sherfick. Margie is survived by husband, William D. Sherfick, daughter, Maryanne (Stephen) Richards of Carmel, IN, two grandsons, Spencer and Clay Richards of Carmel, IN, her brother Larry (Sondra) Downing of Elkhart, IN and her beloved nieces and nephews. Her father and mother preceded her in death.
A celebration of Margie’s life will be held at 1pm Monday April 18,2022 in the funeral chapel at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 11am until the time of service at 1pm. Private family inurnment will be held later.
