Katherine Jean Cunningham, 36, went home to be an angel on Friday July 20th. She was born to Doris L. Erwin & Derrell L. Cunningham on July 11, 1982 in Lafayette, IN. She graduated from Jefferson High School in 2000. She attended Ivy Tech for a year and Phoenix University for about 6 months.
From the time Kathy could talk her nickname was “Chatty Kathy.” As a child she wanted to care for or feed every animal she saw. Growing into an adult this caring quality turned to people. She would become friends with any lonely person who she felt needed someone. If someone was sad she would try to make them happy. Kathy was absolutely the kindest, sweetest person you could meet. She saw only good in everyone.
Around age 18 Kathy met Travis England. She was in love and they planned for a baby. When she became pregnant, Kathy was ecstatic, they were both happy. Then on November 17, 2001 she gave birth to her first child, a girl. Katherine went on to have 2 more children, two boys. Kathy cherished and loved her children more than anything. She was a good mother and will be missed terribly by her children.
There are so many people who were special and close to Kathy at one time or another. Before her step-dad, David L. Daughterty, become her dad at age 2, her uncle John helped Kathy’s mom take care of her. Kathy’s brothers and sisters were also close to Kathy and will miss her terribly. They each have special loving memories they will carry with them forever. Her memory will also live on in all of her children.
Kathy leaves behind her mother and father, David L & Doris L Daugherty; siblings Susan Nicole Daugherty; Alexis Leigh Daughterty; David Anthony (Nicole) Daugherty; Andrew (Joanna) Daugherty; and Adam Daughterty (fiancé Candy). Her children Monique Doris Kay England, Jerrick Lee Allen Townsley, and Collin David Scott Hicks; uncles John, Bob, and Jerrell Glenn; aunts Janet and Sarah; and many other special aunts, uncles, cousins and grandparents.
She was preceded in death by grandparents Barbara Jean Erwin, Aretha Cunningham, James Hugh Cunningham, and Gerald Denman.
Friends may call from 11am to 1pm Monday July 30th in the Chapel of Faith at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens. Funeral services will be at 1pm with burial following. Memorial contributions may be made to Go Fund Me at gf.me/u/j5ji5y
