Joyce Lynnette (Cox) Windler

Joyce Lynnette (Cox) Windler, 86, of Lafayette, IN, passed away August 26, 2022, at Aster Place
Senior Living Community, in Lafayette. She was born on November 4, 1935, in Rensselaer, IN, to the
late Everett W. Cox and Ida Virginia (Howe) Cox. On February 23, 1966, she married David Windler.
Together they shared many wonderful years; raising their family and watching their children and
then grandchildren grow. Joyce worked at Benton Central High School for several years serving as a
secretary in the athletic department, as well as in their guidance counselors office. After her
retirement, she enjoyed her time babysitting and selling Avon. Joyce also had many joys in life, she
was a loving mother and a grandmother to many, who enjoyed shopping, watching parades, and
spending time with her family. She had a kind heart and enjoyed caring for others and was known
around Aster Place lovingly as “Grandma”.
Joyce is survived by her daughters, Sherry (Robert) Cox and Terri Wagner; her son, Chris (Rita)
Windler; five grandsons, Zachary (Elizabeth) Cox, Benjamin (Amanda) Cox, Preston Wagner,
Jonathan Windler, and Nicholas Windler; as well as three great-granddaughters and three great-
grandsons, whom she loved very much. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by
her husband, David Windler, and her brother, Ronald Cox.
Services for Joyce will be held on Saturday, September 10, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at Tippecanoe Funeral
and Cremations Services funeral chapel, in West Lafayette IN; with visitation from 12:00 p.m. – 2:00
p.m., prior to service. Burial to follow services at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens. Online condolences
