On Thursday, March 28, 2023, just one day past her 91st birthday, Billie (Vaughn) Titus passed away peacefully in Lafayette, Indiana. Her loving husband of 74 years, Glen Titus, and her family surrounded her hospital bed up to her final moments.
During their days together, Billie and Glen built a life in a beautiful home that became the root of their family. They had three children: Vallery (Jay) Cherry, Vaughn (Judy) Titus, and Susan Curtis (who passed away in December 2019.) They also had five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Billie was active in all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s lives; making sure they all knew how much she loved and supported each of them.
She was born in Whitley City, Kentucky, on March 27, 1932, and was the youngest of 7 children. They moved to Darlington, Indiana, and ended up settling in Battle Ground, when she was 7 years old. She met Glen when they were in primary school and married on March 12, 1949. She had always said that it was love at first sight, and she loved him just as much until the day she passed. They raised their children on hard work, honesty, dependability, love, and good ol’ country ways. Values that have been passed down through their family over generations.
There will not be a service or celebration or life, as it was Billie’s wish, but she is remembered as a funny, kind, and strong woman who loved her family and friends, and long walks through the woods behind their house.
