Robert Lynn Downey, 92 of Lafayette passed away at 11:45 pm on Friday, May 13,2022 at Heritage Healthcare Center in West Lafayette. He was born March 31,1930 in Lebanon, IN to the late William and Olive Tucker Downey. Following his graduation from high school; in Dayton, IN he married Marlena Stivers on May 21,1948, she survives. Robert was an auto mechanic. He was a member of the Eagles Lodge, where he was a Golden Eagle and twice past president. Robert was a very kind and loving person.
Surviving with his wife of 74 years are two sons Gary (Dorothy) Downey of Lafayette and Richard (Mary) Downey of Louisville, KY, 10 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Also surviving are sisters and brothers, Irma Loft of Lafayette, Jim (Carol) Downey of PA, Linda (John) Michel of Mulberry, and David (Chris) Downey of Lafayette. He was preceded by his sister Anita Crumbo. Private family services were held at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens in West Lafayette. The family requests memorial contributions to the Alzheimers Association.
